Fall Memories

Leaves changing color, the smell of fireplaces burning in the cold air, dew on the grass as I wake early to start my children off for their school day; its fall!
The memories that flood my mind are ones from my childhood. I was born in a rural town in the mountains of Virginia. We only lived there a few years, but we visited quite often. We would always seem to travel there when the leaves were just starting to change colors-the beautiful reds, deep maroons, light yellow-they almost take you on a journey all on their own!

(don't laugh at the hair or the outfit..I thought I was cute..go figure)
My family and I always stayed with my Granny Lura (she wasn’t really my Granny, but she certainly showed it! She died about 3 years ago at the age of 95!). My Granny lived in those mountains and when you walked out the door you saw the most amazing view: The cascading mountains with leaves all different colors and the sunlight hitting them.
I think about all the colors that are on the leaves and think of how awesome our God is. How He created all of that-yet created us in His image-how much more beautiful is that? I know I certainly don’t think I am worthy of all that I have or am. I may not be a size 2, but He knows every hair upon my head and rejoices at my waking in the morning so He can join me on my journey. He is sitting waiting for me to wake to start my journey and yet there are days where I feel like He is so far away-but He isn’t. I felt that way today. I felt like I was going in a totally wrong direction-but I wasn’t. He was just waiting for me to call upon Him. (a few ladies helped me remember that…)
The leaves are changing like the seasons in my life. This season is fresh and exciting-unfolding like the colors changing on the trees. I am ready to jump in and dig my heals into what is coming. I await the fresh anointing and the overwhelming grace that I believe He is giving to my family. I may not feel like it’s all “falling” into place yet, but I KNOW God’s hand is on what are family is headed into.
What an exciting season this is!! Fall into God’s grace!

P.s...I'll have to tell you the story of when Chris and I went to Peaks of Otter (pictured above) in Bedford...that's a whole 'nother story!
